Garage Doors in Young's Point, OntarioOne visit,a stocked van.

The common springs, cables, rollers, hinges, photo-eyes and opener parts ride along on every trip to Young's Point. That means most repairs are finished the day the technician arrives, and when a door needs something unusual, he measures it properly so the right part comes on the second visit. We also come out to Buckhorn, Galesburg, Juniper Island, McCrackens Landing, South Beach, Big Cedar, Mount Julian, Woodview, Deer Bay, Kawartha Park, Victoria Springs, Burleigh Falls, Flynns Turn and Rockcroft.

Garage door services

Our garage door work

Every garage door service we offer in Young's Point is described the same way: what you might have noticed, what the technician checks first, how the work is done and what you have afterwards. Start with the symptom you are seeing and the right service will be easy to find.

Openers

Openers & Access

Openers connect to the door through the arm and the trolley, and a poor connection here makes the door jerk at the start of travel. Adjusting the arm, replacing a worn trolley and lubricating the rail smooth it out.

New Doors

Installation & Upgrades

For builders and renovators, we fit doors into new openings and coordinate with the framing. For homeowners, we replace tired doors with ones chosen to suit the house and the climate.

Sectional Garage Door ReplacementThe door shakes through the curved track, hinges have loosened in worn mounting points, and repairs now involve several parts at once. A coordinated new system offers a cleaner path than chasing wear across the assembly.
  2. A panel sample exposes a cream foam core between thin metal faces on a garage workbench. — Insulated Steel Garage Door Installation, Young's Point
Insulated Steel Garage Door InstallationSeveral sections are dented and the bottom edge has begun to rust. Instead of matching another isolated panel, you are ready to choose a complete insulated steel door with new coordinated hardware.
  3. A person examines horizontal metal reinforcement members across the interior of a closed garage door. — Wind-Rated Garage Door Replacement, Young's Point
Wind-Rated Garage Door ReplacementThe current double door shudders when pressure changes outside, and daylight appears briefly along one edge. Its tracks are light, the jamb material is aging, and no one knows which reinforcement was originally…
  4. Closed glazed sectional door in a grey metal frame at a brick workshop. — Full-View Glass Garage Door Installation, Young's Point
Full-View Glass Garage Door InstallationA damaged glazed door has mismatched sections and uneven movement. Instead of chasing separate pieces, you want a complete installation specified to the opening, door weight, tracks, springs and operator.
  5. A person wearing a hard hat stands beside a dark sectional door in an unfinished timber-framed garage. — New-Construction Garage Door Installation, Young's Point
New-Construction Garage Door InstallationThe garage walls are framed, the roof is on and the opening is taking shape. Now the build needs a complete sectional door system measured to the finished width, height and surrounding clearances.
  6. Tall closed sectional loading door beside a personnel door at a brick unit. — Commercial Sectional Door Repair, Young's Point
Commercial Sectional Door RepairOne busy service-bay door has become louder than the matching doors beside it. Its hinges show movement at the fasteners, several rollers have side play, and the operator vibrates through the supporting structure.

Get a technician to your door in Young's Point.

The garage door on a house in Young's Point is usually the entrance the family uses most, so we treat a repair as something that has to hold. That means finding the cause rather than the symptom, replacing the worn neighbour as well as the broken part, and setting the door up so the opener is not straining.

Young's Point information

2021 census · what it means at the door

  • 60%Older homes

About 60% of homes in Selwyn were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.

Older houses frequently have a garage door that was replaced once already, sometimes with a door chosen for the opening rather than the building. When that door reaches its end, there is a chance to pick a style that suits the house properly, and we measure with that in mind.

  • 93%Mostly houses

Single-detached houses make up about 93% of homes in Selwyn (2021 Census).

Detached homes usually have their own driveway and apron, and years of freeze and thaw can leave the concrete uneven where the door meets it. A thicker bottom seal or a threshold strip closes the gap, keeping snow, leaves and cold air out of the garage.

Garage Door Panel Replacement

Years of slap shots have peppered the lower two sections with dents. Each one alone is small, but from the street the door looks tired, and the deepest dent near the centre has cracked the paint and shows bare steel.

What to expect, in questions

(249) 494-2877

My door is insulated. Does the new section need the same insulation?

It should. Insulated sections come in different thicknesses and core types, and the replacement needs to match yours so the joints line up, the hinges sit at the right depth and the weight stays consistent with the springs. Mixing an insulated section into an uninsulated door, or the reverse, generally means a step at the joint and a change in balance. The technician reads the thickness and core type from the door before ordering.

What information helps when I call?

Where the damage is, at floor level, near the curve or overhead; what caused it if you know, such as a bumper or a ladder; whether the door is closed, open or stuck partway; whether any roller has come out of the channel; whether there is a spring above the door or springs along the tracks; and the door's rough size. A photo of the damaged length and of a bracket with its screws is very useful.

Are springs different for a heavy wooden or insulated door?

Yes, and this is exactly why the door is weighed. A solid wood door or a thick insulated steel door can weigh far more than a single-skin steel door of the same size, so it needs heavier wire, a larger coil or a second spring to balance. The technician measures the actual weight and selects accordingly, so the finished door lifts as easily by hand as a lighter one.

Is it all right to keep shelves and storage near the springs?

Keep a clear zone around them. The springs, pulleys and cables move on every cycle, and anything leaning into their path, such as a ladder, a hockey bag or a shelf edge, can catch a cable or knock a pulley. Storage that crowds the rear hangers also slows any future service. A hand's width of clear air around each spring's full travel, and nothing hung from the springs or their cables, is the rule of thumb.

What is the red cord hanging from the opener for?

It is the manual release. Pulling it disconnects the door from the opener's trolley so the door can be moved by hand, which is how the balance test is done and how you get the car out during a power cut. The industry standard calls for it to be red and reachable, no more than about six feet above the floor. Reconnecting is usually as simple as running the opener once.
